As a grassroots organization, VUOTS will implement target strategies to address the challenges outlined in the 2024 

"The State of Philadelphia, PA Public Education System an Organizational Perspective" report:

Short-Term Outcomes (1-2 years)

  • Expand Tutoring Programs:
    • Offer free or low-cost tutoring in reading, math, and science to improve proficiency rates. 
    • Focus on elementary students to address early literacy gaps.
  • Launch Mental Health Workshops:
    • Partner with local mental health organizations to provide workshops and counseling for students and families. 
    • Train volunteers to offer peer support in schools.
  • Resource Drives:
    • Organize school supply and book drives to provide essential materials for students in low-income areas. 
    • Distribute technology resources (e.g., laptops, tablets) to bridge the digital divide.
  • Parent Advocacy Training:
    • Host workshops to educate parents on navigating the education system and advocating for their children.

Intermediate Outcomes (3-5 years)

  • Early Literacy Programs:
    • Develop and implement early literacy initiatives in partnership with schools and community centers. 
    • Train volunteers and parents to support reading programs for K-5 students.
